Program Aide, HCZ Community Center

The HCZ Community Center is a year-round comprehensive program. Daily activities and programs include: Academic Enrichment, Sports and Recreation, Performing and Fine Arts, Health and Wellness, Rites of Passage, Project CHOICES, Community Service, and The HCZ Community Center.  We are currently seeking Program Aides for the after school and summer programs.  The Program Aide is an integral part of the middle school team.  This person must be reliable, innovative and motivated to work with the middle school population. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the homework lab
  • Maintain open communication with the student advocates about the progress of  participants in their groups
  • Work closely with the middle school point person and assists the Director of Academics to ensure that students on academic alert are receiving additional academic support
  • Monitor and is engaged with the participants in their groups while they partake in a variety of activities, such as dance, arts and crafts, community service, etc
  • Host their own club/activity
  • Facilitate workshops and trainings with the full support of their Middle School Coordinator and Program Coordinator
  • Organize middle school wide events
  • Lead activities in the absence of the Activity Specialist
  • Model the behavior we would like all counselors to achieve
  • Embody the principles of youth development
  • Develop and submit weekly lesson plans for their group
  • Host meetings with students to generate new ideas for the program
  • Provide a safe environment for youth
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and enrolled in a college degree program
  • Adhere to HCZ’s mission statement and principles of youth development
  • Must be heavily invested in working with children and community building
  • Strong computer, organizational, communication, writing, and planning skills
  • Must be a reliable, energetic, motivated and well organized team player
